Frontline is a quarterly news update on current activities of TPA and its membership. Published and distributed to every principal in Tennessee each September in print and electronic format, other issues are on the website and are archived . Current editor is the TPA executive director, Dr Ernest Bentley,Jr. (tnprinassoc@comcast.net) .
Principal Martha "Marti" Phillips (Hull Jackson Montessori Magnet) and Principal Kimber Halliburton (Harpeth Valley Elementary School) both of Metro Nashville, currently serve as the co-chairs for federal and state relations for the Tennessee Principals Association. In those roles, they coordinate activities for the association with the state legislature and the Tennessee congressional delegation.
Strategies for this year include establishing a network of local principals and their local influential politicians, conducting scheduled visits with members of the legislature while it is in session (usually in March), and arranging for office visits with members of the Tennessee congressional delegation during July visits to the the nation's Capitol.
Recently, Kimber Halliburton, Teresa Dennis, Brian Partin, Sharon McNary, and TPA's executive director participated in the National Leaders' Conference during July of 2011. Dr. Nancy Meador, our member of the NAESP Board of Directors, accompanied Sharon, Brian, Teresa, and Kimber as they made their visits in most of the offices on the Hill.
